The OPITO OIM Controlling Emergencies assessment determines if an Offshore Installation Manager is competent to lead a well-trained Emergency Management Team during Major emergencies on an offshore installation. During the assessment candidates will be confronted with incidents that can occur while executing daily activities on an offshore platform. They need to be able to show effective leadership during major emergencies on offshore installations.
Using three realistic scenarios per participant, matching their daily activities, they are observed in their capacities in managing and communicating a crisis situation. The scenarios vary from fire, collisions, helicopter incidents, gas leaks, etc. The participant must manage a team of at least 4 people during the training. This team can consist of colleagues or actors that RelyOn Nutec can provide.
This assessment programme is designed for personnel who are about to be appointed to an OIM position or who are already serving as an OIM.
Prior to taking this formal assessment the candidate is to provide written evidence of being qualified to act as an OIM and has had a leading role in maintaining the emergency preparedness on an offshore E&P installation (according to element 1.1 of OPITO OIM CE Standard).
The certificate has no expiry date.
