Course description

In the two-day STCW Medical First Aid training delegates will learn to act quickly and efficiently in the event of accidents and illness on board a ship. As it can be difficult to get someone ashore immediately, it is vital that persons on board ships are able to provide medical first aid to other crew members. The international STCW convention sets legal requirements for this. In any case, all officers must be in possession of a valid Medical First Aid certificate.

Target group

On a ship, the captain is responsible for the medical care on board. The captain can hand over this responsibility to one of his crew members. They both need to follow the STCW Medical First Aid course.

Prerequisites and validity

Delegates need to be in the possession of a valid STCW Basic Training certificate.

The certificate is valid for 5 years.
