For the inspection and maintenance of sewers, collectors, pump pits, etc., it is often necessary to descend into the infrastructure. Descending into a confined space is not without risk.
When entering a space where wastewater is present, you inevitably stir up settled sludge. At that moment, the gases formed in the wastewater are released. Exposure to them poses a real and fatal risk. In a confined space, there may also be a lack of oxygen.
In order to guarantee safe working conditions, Aquafin prescribes minimum safety measures. Contractors, engineering consultants, clearing firms and Aquafin personnel who, in the execution of their work, must enter the sewer system or a water-treatment plant, or who perform the task of safety guard, are therefore required to take a training course. Only after following and passing such a training course can you enter this infrastructure.
During the training you learn how to enter sewers and water treatment plants in a safe and efficient way. You acquire the necessary skills to perform the task of safety guard in these specific work situations.
Personnel of Aquafin and its (sub)contractors who, in the execution of their duties, are required to enter sewers and water treatment plants safely and to perform the task of safety guard.
There are no training prerequisites required.
At the start of the training the delegate should be:
- In possession of a valid ID (passport or driver’s license).
- Physically fit to attend the course.
The certificate is valid for 3 years.
