Course description

The STCW Advanced Firefighting refresher training helps to improve delegates’ tactical firefighting skills. By doing so, the delegate remains a competent Emergency Response Leader in the shipping industry. In two days RelyOn Nutec equips Emergency Response Leaders with the tactical skills to control, prevent and investigate fires. This refresher training helps the delegate to remain competent to take command, organize and train fire parties and control fire-fighting operations. The delegate will refresh his knowledge of fire prevention and the ability to inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment. The delegate will also be able to investigate and report on incidents involving fires.

Target group

Seafarers who are assigned as fire team incident commander and who take the lead in case of fire related calamities on board ships.

Prerequisites and validity

Seafarers must be in the possession of:

  • A valid STCW Advanced Firefighting (AFF) or STCW Advanced Firefighting Refresher (AFF-R) certificate
  • A valid medical examination, to include use of Breathing Apparatus (BA).

OR

  • the seafarer must be in the possession of a valid Certificate of Competence (CoC) in combination with a valid seaman’s book as a prove of 1 year sea time over the last 5 years.

The certificate is valid for 5 years.
