Description

The three-day STCW Medical Care refresher training is intended for seafarers who are responsible for medical care on board a ship and whose certificate will expire. The international STCW convention sets legal requirements for the medical care that must be provided on board ships. Those responsible for this task must be in possession of a valid certificate.

By participating in this refresher training, a trainee remains competent to participate effectively in coordinated schemes for medical assistance on ships at sea and to provide the sick or injured with a satisfactory standard of medical care while they remain on board.

Target group

This training programme is intended to meet the requirements set out in Section A-VI/4-2 of the STCW Code. To ensure knowledge and techniques required for Medical Care with particular emphasis on practical training. The training programme also meets the requirements of the STCW Code 1995, as amended.

Prerequisites and validity

For admission to the course, seafarers must be in the possession of a valid STCW Medical Care (A-VI/4-2) Certificate.

The certificate is valid for 5 years.
